ubuntu 15.10 experiments

got this nice laptop from my friend and upgraded its heart to i5 with 8GB RAM and 2 x SSD storage

installed Ubuntu GNOME remix and set up full disk encryption using LUKS and LVM

now let’s do backups from the main to the backup disk, also owncloud will sync there.
(set up via tools/setup/config)

installing my old homedir (if I can find it) and here the customizations that I deem “important”

tweak tool > global black default
tweak tool > font scaling 0.9
tweak tool > fixedsys font 10, not 14
terminal default: green on black, 120×33 size

install ubuntu-restricted-extras package
install build-essential package

install gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly gxine libdvdread4 icedax tagtool easytag id3tool lame nautilus-script-audio-convert libmad0 mpg321 gstreamer1.0-libav

install p7zip-full bum
set up grub-customizer to get rid of os’s

install owncloud-client
install quassel-client

set up power saving – or not (useful playing with hdparm?)
install lm-sensors and powertop
use powertop to determine consumption
