Why actually do we write?
Why do I sit here and type, aware of the fact that the whole world (or whoever is coming here) can read this?
I am not an artist
I don’t intend to entertain people
I don’t intend to show off with whatever
I don’t want to fool other people by squeezing out emotions so they come back and I can brag about how many people read my blog, I don’t even look at the access statistics.
I only want to have a space to write about things that move me, that I want out of my head and archived for the future.
Anna doesn’t want to be mentioned here, heck, I can’t even write about half of the things that move me because it might imply her.. and as we are a team, I have to take her feelings into consideration and stay away from writing about her. That doesn’t leave much left to write.. as I am not having any exciting/adventurous hobbies and/or extreme sport addictions, I don’t take drugs, don’t have a multiple personality disorder that needs to be treated by writing about it, don’t have the desire to share my sexual fantasies with the world (anyway, this would imply Anna again, so I can’t anyway…) – WHY DO I WRITE HERE???
Somehow this thing has developed a life of its own and even if it is not interesting at all I am putting it here for the rest of the world to see.. why?
Kinda reminds me of a dutch house where you can look inside (no curtains) and look through into the garden.. and they don’t care.. they just don’t seem to be disturbed by the fact that the window is open all day and lots of tourists watch them dig in their noses..
It is pricey, very much so but it looks like some companies are finally determined that there are enough people on earth that have enough
– money
– free time
– guts
to fly to earth’s orbit to spend some days in zero-G
Found at Engadget, they talk about the planned opening of the “Galactic Suite” in 2012.
Website: http://www.galacticsuite.com
Let’s hope that this is not a PR stunt or a project to raise money for whatever.. but they talk about toilet design (“a challenge”) and shower design and the building of a spaceport already, so it can’t be that far from reality :)
If I start saving today, I might have enough in.. 2075.. darn
the small guy is evil! I knew it but now we have it on pictures! :)

(doesn’t he look mischievous?)
More pictures can be found on the main blueeyedcreature page.
it looks like the days of Vincent being the second blue-eyed creature are over. Today I spotted some yellow/green around his pupil. :)
I am so excited about this guy, every day I discover something new.
If you are feeling bored of always having to eat these amounts of meat when all your friends are doing barbecue.. why not have a look in the vegan/vegetarian kitchen for some variation?
(Besides.. if I eat meat more than twice a week I don’t feel well…)
On a swiss vegetarian page I found a great marinade among other tips for vegetarian barbecue:
For two persons blend the following together:
3 tablespoons dry red wine (or balsamico)
6 tablespoons olive oil (any high quality oil will do)
2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon of mustard (strong (french) type)
1 tablespoon parsley, chopped fine
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon rosemary
1 teaspoon thyme
2 cloves of garlic, smashed
white pepper, ground freshly
salt (?)
then take eggplant, zucchini, peppers, onions, mushrooms, etc…
chop them in mouth-sized pieces and line them up on shashlik/kebap sticks.
spread the marinade over the sticks (is it really a “spit”?) and let it do its magic for a couple of hours, then wait till the meat-lovers have had their first fix (the marinade is not happy with too hot a barbecue) and gently grill the sticks.

many other variations on marinades I found on the German “chefkoch” forum.
They also suggest that you could try to put chicken on the grill once.
Marinade is easy for chicken: Olive oil, salt, pepper, then add whatever you feel like eating. Here some suggestions:
– mediterranean
Rosemary, thyme, laurel, garlic, salt, pepper, olive oil
– hot
chillies, cumin, ground pepper, garlic, salt, pepper, olive oil
– with herbes de provence
– asian with lemongrass, soy sauce, ginger, honey
– try with tarragon once.. yum!
– oriental with saffron and cumin
– and, and, and…
time flies like an arrow
fruit flies like a banana
whoever said that (Marx Brothers?) is having an approach towards the world / life that I just admire :)
It is two weeks now that I use a bike (2 x 8km to work and back) and I don’t sweat anymore when I arive – but am relaxed and awake. This is so much better than coffee.
Also going back is fine, as it takes all emotions away that I gathered during the day.
At work I have been positively charged, too. My employer finally decided to give me some training again which motivated me a great deal. I immediately thought about further ways to involve myself and I picked up the “basic IP training” project again that I had been working on to help the poor new hires understand a little better about IT (and help these confused faces understand the customers.)
Concerning training I fond out that there are a handful of industrial certifications.. of which I can chose whenever I feel bored (but I don’t think that will happen – I have finally been signed up for the CCNA curriculum by my boss. yay!)
Wired is looking for the greatest Gadget of all times, joiin the competition here:

Smudo hat die alten videos von den Fantas “Die Vierte Dimension” auf youtube gestellt, ich hab ihn lieb dafuer :)
Kaum zu glauben, wie alt die fantas geworden sind.. nein,. wie alt ich geworden bin.. oder wie alt wir alle geworden sind (häh?)
Zeit vergeht halt… aber zumindest habe ich jetzt wieder ein Fahrrad :P
Das Leben ist einfach geil zur Zeit, ich hoffe, das bleibt eine Weile so
At the moment, I just can’t complain.
And because these moments are rare, I will not spoil them.
We spent the weekend in Maastricht at Desilia’s – This city somehow reminds me of my home so much that I get very relaxed there. Must be the hilly surrounding (the “Dutch alps” as Anna calls them)
I got myself a new coat, clothes for Vincent and we enjoyed the small guy a lot. He has begun coordinating his hands and can grab/fetch/snatch objects and then talks to them – fantastic! :)
We bought him a wooden chewing-toy which he uses to train his hand-eye-coordination. He is progressing soooo fast…
He also started grabbing the stroller as if he was in a motorcycle so we just had to add glasses :D
Before we went to the bike dealer and spend a LOT of money on some new bicycles and accessoires for children. As soon as our HR department has settled the details with the NFP we will be proud owners of two Gazelle bikes! A “bloom” for Anna (special model with a long wheelbase (for up to two child-carriers) and “low entry” – and a “Impala” for me – a timeless Dutch classic bicycle that could have been produced 50 years ago (if not for the gel saddle, the rollerbrakes and the shimano transmission) – I hope this all turns out the way we imagine it. I will drive 12 km to work every morning and then 12 back – if I don’t get back in shape now, I never will ;)
Work is great, too for the moment.
I am having a lot of fun there and as things are looking we are going to be more technical in the future – like getting access to the routers of the customers to troubleshoot “on the live patient” – yay!
My Cisco certification is on its way, too – with or without my employer I will be a CCNA by the end of the year. I love to be motivated.
And for whoever is reading this and wants a word of advice:
Love is the key!
I can’t believe I am doing all this – since I am back I am buzzing with energy and the idea of doing the CCNA exam before the end of the year is driving me crazy. I get up at 5 at the moment and study before work – and I don’t consider this an inconvenience – I love it!
If I only had had this motivation in university… life takes strange turns.
Vincent is babbling against his toys and tries to join our conversations which is incredibly funny :)
Monday we will try to get him to the daycare for the first time, let’s see who will cry more – mother or child.
I took the day free, just in case ;)
